Journal of the International AIDS Society wishes everyone a happy New Year. The editorial team would like to take this opportunity to express its deep gratitude to our reviewers, who have freely given their time to support the journal and the authors with their expert contributions. Their input is the invaluable backbone to scientific publishing, which we acknowledge gratefully. The JIAS has had an eventful year, with the launch of its facebook fan page, three scientific writing workshops, 52 publications, four supplements and the creation of an online conference abstract writing course. The editors look forward to working with its authors, reviewers, publisher and readers in 2011 to continue the important dissemination of research findings in the field of HIV/AIDS. We also have to say good-bye to Rose-Marie Neuenschwander, our editorial assistant, whose enthusiasm and unwavering support for the journal will be missed.
