BMC Medical Informatics and Decision Making publishes 250th article

BMC Medical Informatics and Decision Making has recently hit the 250 published article landmark.

The journal has known considerable developments since its launch back in 2001. BMC Medical Informatics and Decision Making is attracting more submissions than ever before and publications have climbed by 50% in the last three years.

The 250th article, ‘The influence of context and process when implementing e-health’, by David Boddy and colleagues from the Universities of Glasgow and Aberdeen, discusses factors that affect the implementation of e-health projects and highlights that the integration of information systems in other sectors can inform the delivery of e-health programs in health care systems. The article has already been accessed over 500 times since its publication in January.

BMC Medical Informatics and Decision Making is grateful to Dr Boddy and his colleagues for their contribution to the journal.  This is also Prof. Mair’s third publication in journals within the BMC series.

The journal would like to extend their appreciation to all authors and reviewers who have been involved with the journal during the last eight years.

We would also like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to our committed Editorial Board members.  Our international Editorial Board has played an important role in developing the journal, both by contributing research and acting as peer reviewers. Editorial Board members have regularly provided advice on editorial matters and other activities related to the journal. They have also been involved in the recent process to update and widen the journal’s scope.

BMC Medical Informatics and Decision Making operates an Open Access model, which ensures that work published in the journal is accessible to readers immediately and free of charge. Our open access policy increases the visibility of research, as reflected by access counts and citations, the top ten most viewed articles have each received over 9,000 accesses, while articles published in the journal have been cited over 1,000 times. The journal is currently tracked by Thomson Scientific (ISI) and will receive its first impact factor in 2010.

If you are a researcher with an interest in information management, systems and technology in healthcare and the study of medical decision making, BMC Medical Informatics and Decision Making is keen to receive your next research article. We invite you to submit your manuscript online.

We welcome readers’ feedback on the journal and its contents. If you have any questions about the journal and our editorial policies, or if you would like to be involved in the journal, as an author, reviewer, or Associate Editor, please do get in touch.
